Customer Stories - Averill Lawler

I get particularly excited when someone orders one of the more unusual pieces from the collection, something less mainstream, for those who wander off the beaten track in life. Averill ordered my grass seed frond necklace - it doesn’t surprise me that she describes herself as a wild coast wanderer. The grass frond necklace reminds me of the swishing sound and movement you get in the height of summer on a hazy day. I asked Averill why she chose it, all the way from Tasmania. Although I haven’t been I suspect there is a lot of grass and swishing going on there!

Averill Lawler

Averill is an artist who lives in Tasmania, Australia. She paints nature, including vibrant paintings of the sea, full of life and movement. She describes herself as a wild coast wanderer.

I came across Grace and Flora’s jewellery through her Instagram account, which is a beautiful and engaging place. As an artist, I draw inspiration from the natural world and so Kate’s approach to her work really resonates with me.
I chose a silver grass frond necklace because I loved how it was a common thing transformed into something very beautiful in silver. It is so delicate to wear and falls at the perfect length. There were so many of her designs I could have chosen, I do have my eye on the twig necklaces or sycamore seeds, for next time.
