Customer Stories - Sarah Becvar

One of my own personal favourite jewellery pieces to make and send out is the Oak leaf. It came out so prettily - not a word I normally associate with the Mighty Oak, with details and curves so sweet and pleasing to the eye. Take a closer look at those fluttering leaves when you next sit underneath an Oak Tree (a pastime I recommend taking time out to do, it is surprisingly restorative). I was glad that Sarah (see below) wanted to contribute here with her particular connection to the oak, and she even sites my favourite quote about the oak which I can never hear enough!

“Wearing the necklace connects me to nature and almost makes me feel ‘secure’ or ‘rooted’…”

Sarah Becvar, Textile Artist

Sarah is a textile artist living in East Sussex. She specialises in machine embroidery, selling exquisite embroidered cards, art and bags available on her website and (in normal times!) teaches workshops. She shares her beautiful work on Instagram. She popped by my stall at the Country Living Fair when I was exhibiting a while ago and bought the oak leaf pendant.

“I absolutely love the silver oak leaf I bought from you. We had an orchard with an enormous oak tree growing in the middle of it. The tree was used as a ‘base’ for many childhood games and as it towered high about the rest of the orchard became a focal point of the garden. I used to love finding little oak saplings in unexpected places and often thought of squirrels planting them to save then forgetting where they buried them. I love the saying ‘from tiny acorns mighty oaks grow’ and often refer to this when I begin to think of new work. In fact I used Oak in the kennel name of the puppy we kept as she was the smallest of the litter, but I knew she would grow to be a beautiful dog!
Wearing the necklace connects me to nature and almost makes me feel ‘secure’ or ‘rooted’. My work is inspired by my natural environment so I feel a great connection with it which drew me to finding your beautiful work on Instagram. I also love the feel of your work...the natural shapes and texture of the leaf is incredible and I finding this very comforting”
