Jane Thomas

Jane is a fellow nature lover, a keen gardener - roses and wildflowers especially, and family is central to her life. She stopped by my stall when I was exhibiting at the Country Living Fair a few years ago to say hello and has become a regular customer. She tells a particularly lovely story here about the bird on a branch necklace she chose and what makes it special to her and her extended family.

 My name is Jane Thomas and I live in a little village in Kent.  I first discovered Kate @Grace and Flora on Instagram and then met her ‘in Real life’ at the Country Living Fair in London.  I have been a fan of Kate’s wonderful work for many years now and have purchased quite a few items as gifts for loved ones, and I am lucky to have a few pieces of my own.

My favourite piece is a necklace with a bird perched on a branch.  I am a real nature lover and garden for wildlife. I have a wild flower meadow and this attracts all sorts of insects and birds.  I feel really lucky to have my garden, which I spend a lot of time looking after.   I feed the birds all year round and so when I saw this design I really wanted one!  However, I am not always good at treating myself (why do I always feel guilty?) and so I ended up giving the original purchase to my Daughter-in-Law’s mum for her birthday.  She absolutely loved it and knowing how much I did too, bought one for me!  It was quite poignant as this was the year our own ‘chicks’ were getting married!  A lovely reminder for us both whenever we wear our necklaces.

I did buy a little twiggy ring to match the necklace and I wear both items frequently and I always have lots of compliments.  The jewellery is incredibly beautiful and tactile.  Having met Kate, it makes them even nicer as she is such a kind, gentle soul.  

Another favourite purchase is the Daffodil necklace.  It was a gift from my mum who said to me ‘I want you to choose something that will remind you of me’ …. Well, she is called Daphne or ‘Daff’ for short, she also loves Daffodils – how could I resist?
