The Power of Handmade Jewellery
Making your jewellery is an honour
I receive reviews and messages that tell the story of why many of you bought my handmade jewellery. Graduation and christening gifts, wedding rings (the twig rings in particular), engagement rings, gifts for brides, bridesmaids and birthdays - special ones and ordinary ones.
Memories of events, people and places; sometimes it is just ‘because’. Often the pieces are permanent reminders of lost loved ones that can be carried and worn for a lifetime and beyond.
I’ve shared a few of my favourite reviews and messages, the ones that stir me up.
Sarah - Oak Leaf Cuff
I brought this beautiful bracelet as a surprise wedding gift for my new wife and she wore it on our wedding day. She loves trees and natural forms and doesn't often wear jewellery being small and slender, so this was perfect for her as it was so fine, delicate and beautiful and it went perfectly with her wedding dress, I couldn't be any more pleased with it nor with the speed it arrive and it was packaged so beautifully too. I love your Jewellery Reviews
I used to collect reviews automatically on my old website (I rescued some here) - and still do so on my Etsy shop. It is useful for customers when choosing, and for me - your reviews and messages so replenishing and rewarding; they keep me inspired. They fuel to my creative flame.
A few of these jewellery reviews moved me to tears.
Message: I’m totally blown away by the, they’re amazingly perfect. I know they’re perfect as I’m an emotional wreck, haha.
I love the packaging too, so lovely. I’m going to give the necklace to my Sis next week so I’ll write a review after that.
Thanks so much. so happy (even tho my mascara is all over my face).
Review: I bought two of these gorgeous necklaces for myself and my sister to remind us of our late Dad (our family home is Oak Tree Cottage). I also commissioned Kate to make a little tag for each necklace with wording on which was a bit unconventional and they were amazing. The necklaces are perfect, beautifully made, even the packaging is lovely. Both my Sis and I cried when we opened them but also laughed at the personalised tag too which was what we really wanted. Thanks so much. Blooming love them. xx
Elaine - Sycamore Necklace
Thank you for the memories. I cried when I opened the sycamore necklace I just got. I grew up happily helicoptering these from our huge sycamore tree. My brother had to take the tree down after a storm, right before our mother died last October. I have such fond memories of that tree. Your jewellery is more than artwork. It is magical.
Silver Jewellery is symbolic and Timeless
The wax casting process used in creating the jewellery is ancient, thousands of years old. Jewellery has been worn and appreciated for thousands of years, for symbolism, talisman, memories and gift giving. (The psychotherapist in me wants to talk about transitional objects but I’ll resist!).
Archeological hauls of jewellery and trinkets still emerge from earthy depths in Rome, Egypt and Greece (they even detailed jewellery boxes on their headstones). Here in our British soil - forgotten, once cherished lives and loves that lasted millennia are found and remembered again.
Silver lasts, well, a really long time so your jewellery can be kept for a life time and passed on in the future.
Kerry, Twig Ring
Just wanted to say a big thank you for resizing of the ring, my partner is very pleased as this is the ring I proposed to her with - so I was chuffed when it arrived so quickly after me sending you it back.
‘Just because’ Jewellery
Sometimes it’s an unconscious, emotional draw to the pieces that sing to you, needing no explanation; more of a call and response, a feeling of rightness. It makes us feel good. Cherished on this earth. Empowered. We can appreciate the mystical beauty of nature capture in these forms each day.
Karen - Various Jewellery
Everything arrived safely. the first package three days ago, the second just now. One is even more beautiful than the other. Thanks a lot.
Your jewellery is the most beautiful I know. And I know a lot… :-)
Sharon - Small Holly Leaf Earrings
This pair of holly earrings is wonderful beyond our dreams. It is replacing heavy antique ones (stolen we thought, and much missed). These are identical in vision but much smaller, easier and more attractive to wear. They are beautifully crafted, dainty and feminine. We are thrilled with them.
Andrea C - Shell Bracelet
It’s utterly lovely, as beautiful and perfect as I was hoping for and more. Everyone who has seen it has admired it and several have asked me to pass on your details. It is a design that has a lot of personal meaning and associations for me.
John P - Ivy Leaf Necklace - Cluster
This necklace was a birthday gift for my wife's sister it had special meaning because their mother was named Ivy.
It was a 70th birthday so we wanted to mark the occasion with special gift.
My wife had spent hours on the internet searching for such a gift . When we received the necklace it was exquisitely packaged and we had to be very careful not to spoil the packaging to check the necklace was ok. The Peruvian opal and the moonstone are perfect additions and just go to make the Ivy leaf necklace so special.
My wife's sister was absolutely delighted and everyone present at the family get together were amazed at the beautiful present. Thank you Kate you have through your skill and design made a very long lasting impression.
Patricia - Pea Pod Bangle
This silver bangle arrived in beautiful packaging with dried petals falling from the tissue paper as it was opened. And the pea pod which was heaver than expected was so pretty…
But it is not for me! I’ve hurredly repacked it - it is for my daughter who I call babypea and she calls me mumpea. I can’t wait to give it to her. Thank you Grace and Flora!
Steven and his wife - Pea Pod Necklace
My wife loved the two peas in a pod necklace, it made her cry, it’s beautiful! Thank you so much!
My husband bought me this for my birthday and I love it so much. Beautifully made and lovely quality. A perfect present, thank you so much.
Kathryn, Ammonite Necklace
I am going to a book launch of a friend who has just released ‘The Final Strife’. On the US Cover of the book the main character wears a shell like this one I’ve just ordered, in her hair. I’ve ordered it as a gift for Saara, the author, but the book launch is tomorrow - hence the urgency. Thank you for doing all you can to have it arrive on time.
Later: Saara LOVED the necklace, thank you so much. x
